The holiday season is quickly upon us. I am thankful to all of our members who graciously and tirelessly lend their love and support to others through out the year. We remember those who have gone before us, their families and loved ones.

Newborn screening for cystic fibrosis enables the opportunity for early detection and intervention. This opportunity can lead to improved outcomes and treatment regimes. We are thankful for the states that mandate newborn screening for cystic fibrosis.

In our latest video, Martin Kharrazi, Ph.D., reports on the importance, the details, and the process of the recently instituted California newborn screening program. Dr. Kharrazi answers many of my own questions on the screening process. I know you will also be impressed as you learn about the many details studied in California.

Imagine how difficult it would be as a parent, to take your sick child from doctor to doctor, and no one knew what was wrong. The doctors seem to think your baby is merely battling a stubborn cold, or has food allergies of some sort. You know that can’t be the correct diagnosis, so you exhaust yourself searching websites that describe your little one’s symptoms, but never can quite put your finger on anything that explains it.
